In My Mailbox

I have known and quietly followed The Story Siren's weekly meme "In My Mailbox" for over two years but I have never participated.
This week I felt like I had to participate as I bought a good number of books (all at once) from an online Turkish bookstore and the books were delivered to me a couple of days ago. I am sooo excited about my books that I'll also be making a posting in Turkish as well to share my excitement.
My one and only favourite online Turkish bookstore, ilknokta had a great offer last week: A good number of sci-fi and fantasy books were on discount. I decided to buy a few and I ended up buying a good number of books (All of them are gorgeous by the way). I'll list those that are available in English here:

1. Tower of Dreams (Düşler Kulesi) by Jamil Nasir: I really liked the cover of this book and I remember a friend saying nice things about it so I'll give it a try.

2. The Color of Magic (Büyünün Rengi) by Terry Pratchett: For someone who likes fantasy books, I should have read Pratchett books long ago but I somehow didn't. I am starting Discworld series though and whenever I start a serie, sooner or later, I finish it.

3. The Children of Captain Grant (Kaptan Grant'in Çocukları) and The Secret of Wilhelm Storitz (Wilhelm Storitz'in Sırrı) by Jules Verne: I'm trying to do a "Jules Verne Readalong" on my own and a publisher in Turkey has recent republished all of his books. There are more than 40 books in the series. I'm trying to read them in order of publishing. Last week I finished and reviewed the 6th book in the serie, "Journey to the Center of the Earth". The ones I bought are number 11 and 12 so I may not read them this year.

4. The Shockwave Rider (Şok Süvarisi Dalgası) by John Brunner, Have Space Suit - Will Travel (Uzay Elbisemle Yolculuğa Hazırım) by Robert A. Heinleim, Make Room! Make Room! (Yer Açın! Yer Açın!) by Harry Harrison, Ender's Game (Ender'in Oyunu) by Orson Scott Card and A Clockwork Orange (Otomatik Portakal) by Anthony Burgess . I have been thinking about buyinh these sci-fi classics for a long time. Now I have books ready to participate in The Dystopia 2012 Challenge.

5. Carmilla by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu: One's fantasy and sci-fi shopping basket will  never be complete without a vampire book. Don't you agree?

6. Baba Yaga Laid an Egg (Baba Yaga'nın Yumurtası) by Dubravka Ugresic: A mythological tale from our good, old neighbour, Bulgaria.

7. Dying Inside (İçeriden Ölmek) by Robert Silverberg: It is a new release in Turkey by my favourite publisher, Ithaki so I decided to give it a try without checking the content.

This is what happened in my mailbox this week. What about you?
