In My Mailbox

Here I am posting again for The Story Siren's weekly meme "In My Mailbox".

I have received two books this week and they are both special for me. Last month there was a nice book exchange between Turkish book bloggers. It was organized by one blogger. Every participant is allowed to list a few books she wishes to read. The organizer creates couples to exchange books.

I was paired with a really sweet girl from Istanbul. She sent me two books (which I'll talk about in a minute) together with so many nice gifts. In exchange I sent her some books as well. I could have bought these books easily online but it was so great to receive a surprise package.

Anyway, back to books, both books were on my wishlist and my partner was kind enough to find and buy them for me.

The first book is "We", a dystopian novel by the Russian author, Yevgeny Zamyatin. It has been on my TBR list for a long long time. Every time I come across a review, I have been telling myself to buy it as soon as possible but for some reason, I ended up not buying it. Thanks to this nice book exchange event, now "We" has found the place it deserved on my book shelf. No more excuses for not reading it!

The second book is "Rabbit, Run": The 1960 novel by John Updike. It is about a part of the life of a 26-year-old former high school basketball player named Harry 'Rabbit' Angstrom, and his attempts to escape the constraints of his life. It is a book I want to read this month for my bookclub in Goodreads.

What was in your mailbox this week?
