Fall Into Reading 2010

I haven't updated my blog for ages. It doesn't mean that I quit reading. I kept reading and taking my little notes as I read along but never managed to sit in front of the compueter for blogging. I was looking for an excuse to come back when saw "Fall Into Reading 2010".

I discovered Katrina's blog last spring and joined Spring Reading Thing. I planned on reading a good number of the books and I actually did but never managed to get organized to do proper blog posts. Time flies so quickly and autumn is here. I decided to give myself and my long-left-alone blog another chance by trying again.
After a lazy summer, I'm trying to spare more time for reading to reach my 50 books/year target. Right now I am reading my 32nd (The Great Hunt by Robert Jordan) and 33rd (Old Scroll by Vladimir Tumanov) books. I have to reach at least 45 books before the end of "Fall Into Reading 2010". I will try to link the updates to the reviews I made to this page as I read along (in case you feel like reading them). So, here is my list:

1. The Great Hunt (The Wheel of Time, #2) / Robert Jordan ~ It's such a nice coincidence. When I joined Spring Reading Thing 2010, I was reading the first book of The Wheel of Time series and right now I'm reading the second book. (Finished reading on October 28, 2010)

2. Old Scroll / Vladimir Tumanov ~ It's a book for children. I decided to read this together with the chunkster I mentioned above. If you have/know children who do not like geography, they may like it after they read this book. (Finished reading on October 8, 2010)

3. The Catcher in the Rye / J.D. Salinger ~ It's a book from 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die list. I borrowed it from my sister. She was so excited to read but she didn't like it that much at the end. Well, we'll see... (Finished reading on November 4, 2010)

4. Animal Farm / George Orwell ~ Many of my colleagues suggested me to read this book when they saw me reading Nineteen Eightyfour a couple of months ago. It's sitting on my desk right now. (Finished reading on November 29, 2010)

5. Foundation (Foundation, #2) / Isaac Asimov ~ Last week I discovered a website with many books on sale and I ordered six books immediately. This is the first of them. After reading Prelude to Foundation last May, I'm so curious about the second book. (Finished reading on November 25, 2010)

6. Flowers for Algernon / Daniel Keyes ~ It's one of the current reads of Banned Books Group on Goodreads. I haven't read any banned books in 2010 and I feel like joining the discussions for the group. (Finished reading on October 15, 2010)

7. The Book Thief / Markus Zusak ~ It's been sitting on my TBR list for quite some time and finally I ordered the book online.

8. Drakula / Bram Stoker ~Another current read of a Goodreads group: The Book Addicts. It was in my TBR list already. (Finished reading on November 3, 2010)

9. Laura, #4 / Peter Freund ~ Another series of books I was dragged into by my sci-fi & fantasy lover sister. If you like Harry Potter, you may like Laura. (Finished reading on November 12, 2010)

10. Water for Elephants / Sara Gruen ~It was on a crazy discount and on my TBR list so I had to buy it. Now I have to read it!

11. Catching Fire (Hunger Games, #2) / Suzanne Collins ~The first book was a page-turner so I will read the second book...

12. Mockingjay (Hunger Games, #3) / Suzanne Collins ~ ... and the third book.

13. La Boutique del Mistero / Dino Buzzati ~I promised myself to read a book in Italian in 2010. I keep postponing reading it so as not to face how much Italian I have forgotten. It's less than 100 pages with pictures and all but I know I'll feel like I'm reading a chunkster.

  1. Nice to see you are back and posting again! That's a great list by the way. I see you are also into the Suzanne Collins - I still don't know what all the fuss is, but I guess I'll have to check it out soon.

You are so lucky you can read Italian. I'd love to read in another language. I look forward to what you think of them.
